The Liberty County High School Panther football team moves to 3-0 after defeating the Richmond Hill Wildcats 31-23 Sept. 27 at Donell Woods Stadium.
The two teams fought back and forth and the leads changed throughout the first three quarters. A strong defensive stance and offensive push in the fourth quarter gave the Panthers the advantage.
Senior Panther quarterback Dionte Bowens was 6 of 13 for 116 passing yards and one touchdown. Wildcat quarterback Tyler Coleman was 10 of 23 for 104 passing yards.
Panther Markel Johnson led the Liberty team with 3 touchdowns. He rushed for 123 yards on 21 carries. He also had two receptions for 90 yards with and 83 yard TD play. LD Mack had one touchdown off a 73 yard run.
The Wildcats were led by Jalen Rouse. He scored 2 touchdowns and rushed for 131 yards on 25 carries. The Panthers have a bye week. They play at Tattnall County High School Friday Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The wildcats (1-3) will host Bluffton Friday Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
