Parade for championship teams

A parade is set for 1 p.m. Saturday to honor the three state title winning basketball teams from Liberty County.

Liberty County boys won the Georgia High School Association Class AAAA state title. First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys took the Georgia Independent School Association Class AA title. And the Liberty County Recreation Department Senior All-Stars boys won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state title.

The parade will line up at the Temple of Praise Church (formerly Poole’s Deli), starting at 11:30 a.m. The parade will head north on Main Street, west on Central Avenue, then south on Wellborn Street toward Gen. Screven Way. The parade will continue east on Gen. Screven north on Hendry and finish back at Temple of Praise.

Parade meetings are planned for tonight. Volunteers will meet at 5 p.m. and participants will meet at 6 at the Liberty County Board of Education Building.

After the parade, the LCHS Panthers will head back to the school gym for a ceremony beginning at 3 p.m.
