Former Long County High School student Cassandra Pelton continued her dominance on the archery range at the U.S. Intercollegiate Archery Championship from May 14-17 in Newberry, Florida.
Pelton claimed the gold medal in the recurve women’s competition and first and third place in the All-American honor categories. She also helped lead her Georgia Southern University team to a second-place finish in the overall competition.
Pelton is trying to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic archery team. The Olympic trials in archery will be this summer.
Pelton is the daughter of Donald and Lynn Pelton, who both teach in Long County schools.
