The Long County Blue Tide baseball team may have wrapped up region play but they have a few games left in the regular season that can help their standing in the power rankings going into the 2026 state playoffs.

They hosted the Pierce County Bears on Wednesday, April 8 as they looked to take on the AA top 10 team, but fell 9-5.

The Bears got things started, getting a hit and two walks off Charlie Johnson before an error at second base allowed the first two runners to score.

Peyton Batt got the Tide on the board in the bottom of the inning as he hit a sacrifice RBI before an error allowed another run to score, tying the game at 2-2.

The Bears loaded the bases with two outs in the second and plated three runs, two coming on a single to center and the third on an error.

Johnson got his first varsity home run in the third inning to make the score 5-3. After a Dylan Lester double, Braedon Chambless hit his own home run to tie the game 5-5 going into the fourth inning.

Those were the last runs the Tide scored, however, as they went cold at the plate. The Bears did not.

Runners were on second and third for the Bears as the Tide fielders got tangled up in shallow left field, allowing a run to score.

Batt got out of the inning with bases loaded and one out as he struck out the next two batters. That 6-5 score held through the fifth inning.

In the sixth, the Bears added one more run on a single into left. They added two more runs in the top of the seventh.

With the 9-5 loss, the Tide fall to 12-9 on the year. They host Appling County Thursday, April 16 to close out the regular season.
