Realignments put schools in new classes
Liberty, Long now in same Region 2-AAA

Bradwell Institute and Liberty County will move into new regions next year, after the the Georgia High School Association announced realignments last week.

The 2016-18 region realignments are the first changes for the local schools in roughly four years. The changes also bring Long County into Region 2-AAA, the same as Liberty County.

The realignment takes effect at the start of the next school year, making football the first sport it impacts.

Bradwell will now play in Class AAAAAA and have five Region 2 competitors. The region teams are all schools Bradwell’s football team has competed against the last two years as region opponents.

Liberty is now part of Class AAA and will have six Region 2 competitors. The Panther football team has never played Long County. The other region opponents all have histories against the Panthers but the teams have not played each other for two years or more.
