The Long County Recreation Department had 12 athletes compete at the state track meet this past weekend where they competed in 18 events and placed in the top eight in all events. The runners also reportedly beat their personal best times in their respective runs.
Seven of the 12 placed in the top three placed in the top three of their events.
They had two athletes break state records and one who had the second best state record.
The results are:

1st Jessie Morse 13-14 boys’ high jump tied the state record and jumped 5-feet, 3-inches
1st Sophia Brewster 9-10 girls’ softball throw 127 feet setting new state record
