The ninth annual Sunbury 5K will be Oct. 13 in Sunbury, and early registration is open for $25.

The race will begin at 10 a.m. from the Sunbury Crab Co. and wind through Sunbury neighborhoods and Fort Morris Historic Site.  

Awards will be given for the overall top three male and female runners, as well as the top three in five-year age group.

Presenting sponsor is Darsey, Black and Associates of Hinesville.

“DBA has been a supporter of the Sunbury 5K since their first race in 2010, and we’re thrilled to be the 2018 presenting sponsor. Our entire team looks forward to the event each year and this gives us an additional opportunity to promote overall fitness in the community,” said Dr. Tommy Black, DBA co-owner and clinical supervisor.

Since the first Sunbury 5K, more than $35,000 has been donated to charities. The 2017 event distributed funds to Carpathia Paws, The Liberty Coalition for the Homeless and the Hinesville Vietnam Veterans.
