Running back Brendon Scott has been named the 2014 Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Chevrolet Player of the Year for Long County High School.
Scott rushed for 1,425 yards for the Blue Tide, which was the 23rd best rushing total for all running backs in Georgia. Scott also broke the school’s record for rushing yards in a season and was named the team’s most valuable player.
Scott was a member on the All-Region 2-AA First Team and was named the Player of the Week for Long County three times this season.
In addition to Scott being recognized, each Long County player who was named a Player of the Week this season was presented with a certificate for their individual accomplishment during that game.
These players included Michael Abram, Deandre Reddick, Kyree Coprick, Jamin Davis, Jaquarius Harris and Mykoel Stanley.
Stanley was the only other player to earn the award multiple times, being recognized twice.
“I want to congratulate the player of the year, the players of the week, and all of the rest of the players who contributed to the success of the Long County football program,” Mike Reed said.
