The Long County Lady Blue Tide softball team played its final home game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 4 as they beat McIntosh County Academy 11-0 in a non-region contest.

It was all Lady Tide from the beginning as senior pitcher Jaci Smiley made short work of their next-county rivals before the team honored her and five others following the game.

In five innings of work, Smiley hurled 13 strikeouts while allowing just two hits. She struck out five of the first seven batters she faced.

Kyleigh Sizemore’s RBI single plated Taylor Hodges with the first run, and Smiley brought in Sizemore with a triple.

Senior Delanie Williams, Hodges and Sizemore went back-to-back-to-back with triples, and Smiley’s single pushed the lead to 5-0.

After a Kassie Davis single, Emma Smith scored Smiley to make the score 6-0. Hodges’ RBI single in the fourth made it 7-0.

Senior Mackenzie McFarland, in her first at-bat of the season, got a pinch-hit, bases-loaded single up the middle for an 8-0 lead.

Amiyah Simpkins brought home the ninth run of the game and Davis scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-0.

Senior Rebecca Lust was the last Tide senior to get in on the action as she recorded a run-scoring single.

Smiley struck out two in the fifth to close out MCA.

With the win, the Lady Tide move to 17-4 on the year. They play at Savannah Christian on Thursday, October 6 in what is essentially the region championship game for the two teams.
