HMAC golf tourney

The Hinesville Military Affairs Committee’s drive to fund the Veterans Memorial Walk at Bryant Commons continue with the 2016 inaugural HMAC Golf Tournament Saturday. The four-person scramble at Cherokee Rose Country Club begins at 2 p.m. and will feature various prizes and perks. The first-, second- and third-place teams will win $200, $150 and $100, respectively. In addition, Vaden Nissan of Hinesville is offering a 2016 Nissan Versa to a golfer who makes a hole-in-one on hole three. After play, the teams will eat together. Registration for a team of four costs $240, and spaces are available, as are $100 hole sponsorships. Golf to help cancer patient

The Jay Smiley Memorial Golf Tournament will be April 16 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club. Proceeds will go to help Valerie Gosseck. Gosseck, who is employed at the Hinesville Wal-Mart and married to Hinesville police Officer Mike Gosseck, is currently battling cancer. The entry fee is $50 per player with cash prizes of $400, $300, and $200 going to the top three teams. For more information on playing or becoming a sponsor call 912-876-5503 or 912-977-1860.

Hoop Quest at Beach

The Hoop Quest Battle at the Beach basketball showcase will be April 8-10 in Savannah. It is open to boys and girls in fourth through 11th grades. It is an AAU-sanctioned tournament featuring three-game minimum per team with pool play leading to bracket play. Trophies will be awarded for first- and second-place teams. Fee is $225 per team.
