LCRD Boot camp moves to Wednesday night

Starting next week LCRD Boot Camp class will move from Tuesday to Wednesday night. The class will also start at 5:30 p.m. For more information call 876-5359.

Lace Up Fitness hosting MMA/Boxing/Jiu-Jitsu/boot camp

Lace Up Fitness trainer Richard Somerville will be offering classes in boxing, mixed martial arts, boot camp training and Jiu-Jitsu by appointment only. Boot camp fees are $5, all other classes are $15. Call Somerville at (912) 318-4631 to make an appointment.

Tuesday Night Open League

The Tuesday Night Winter Open League is prepapring to begin and is welcoming new and old bowlers to sign up and join the fun.

Hinesville Rotary Club to host fishing tournament

The Hinesville Rotary Club is hosting a Red Fish and Trout fishing tournament Sept. 20. The Captain’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Sunbury Crab Company and the tournament weigh-in will be held the following day at 3 p.m. There will be separate payouts for Red Fish and Trout categories. First pace in each category will receive $1,000, second place $500 and third place $250. There will also abe a first place trophy given in the female and junior category. The tournament is seeking anglers and sponsors. Golf Tournament to benefit Long County baseball team

The second annual Long County Baseball golf tournament will be  held at 1 p.m. Aug. 23, at Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville. Sign-up begins at 1 p.m., and tee-off is at 1:30 p.m.

Tournament fees are $60 per person or $240 for team of four. Lunch will be provided. Cash prizes awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams. There also will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, and hole-in-one. For more information, call 432-6149 or 703-229-2648.

YMCA coed basketball camp

The Liberty County YMCA is hosting a coed basketball camp this weekend. The two-day camp is open to kids ages 7-18 and costs $25 per player. Although Day 1 of the camp took place Saturday, Day 2 is from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday. The camp is led by local basketball coaches Harvey Harris, Simon Steele, Marcus Scott, Cedric Robertson and Khari Collins.

YMCA boxing class

Registration is open for the YMCA’s new boxing class.The class is open to children and adults 16 and older. The cost is $20 per month for members and $40 per month for nonmembers. The class is designed to develop new skills in a fun and safe environment. The class meets once a week, and payments are due prior to the beginning of the month. LCRD offering variety of fall programs

Registration is under way for several Liberty County Recreation Department fall programs.

Registration will be open through Aug. 15 for tackle football (ages 9-12), flag football (ages 7-8), cheerleading (ages 7-12) and soccer (ages 4-17). The fee for these programs is $20.

Registration will remain open until full for the following programs:

• Tae kwon do — ages 7 and up; fee is $30 per month

• Jui jitsu — ages 7 and up; fee is $30 per month

• Body sculpting — ages 14 and up; fee is $20 per month

• Acrobatics — ages 5 and up; fee is $35 per month

• Hip-hop — ages 5 and up; fee is $35 per month

• Piano lessons — ages 5 and up; fee is $20 per class

Jui jitsu, piano, acrobatics and hip-hop lessons will be held at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway.

‘Hank’ White golf tourney set for Aug. 2

The 10th annual Henry “Hank” White Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. Saturday at Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville. Tournament fees are $60 per person or $240 for a team of four and include golf cart, green fees and lunch. Mulligans are $5 each and limited to two per person. Prizes are awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams. Second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon

The second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 6. Registration is open for the swim, bike and run event geared toward youth ages 7-15. Registration forms also are available at Fleet Feet Sports at 3405 Waters Ave. and at the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Sallie Mood Drive.

Race honors FDNY

Registration is open for the the third annual Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah, which honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY first responders who sacrificed their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The race is set for Sept. 13, and the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m.

Proceeds benefit the Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation’s various programs, including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted homes for injured service members. The run in Savannah also will feature The Siller Cup Firefighter Challenge. Teams of four firefighters or more from across the nation are expected to compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy.

The T2T Run Savannah also is looking for children to be involved in a memorial tribute to honor each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters. To sign up your child for this special tribute, contact the committee at Savannah@tunnel2towers.org.

A special $25 registration discount is available for military personnel, firefighters and police officers.
