Mathis Lanier homered twice and drove in four runs as the Statesboro Blue Devils opened their three-game region series against Bradwell Institute with a 13-2 win Tuesday.

The Blue Devils finished with 14 hits, as Landon Johnson went 3-for-5 and Nathan Newkirk was 3-for-3. The Tigers were held to two hits.

The No. 3-ranked Greenbrier Wolfpack completed a series sweep of the Tigers in Region 1-AAAAA baseball last week. The Wolfpack outscored the Tigers 41-3 in the three-game series.

Bradwell (10-9, 2-5) continues its series with Statesboro on Thursday at Mill Creek Park and hosts Statesboro in the series finale Friday.

Bradwell will begin a three-game series with No. 4-ranked Coffee on April 2.
