The Long County softball team didn’t have the season they had hoped for. The Lady Tide failed to make the playoffs and posted a 6-14 record. But several of the players did earn individual accolades.

Last week, coaches from Region 2-AAA determine which players would be recognized on the All-Region Team. Pierce and Appling counties led all teams with each having ten players make either the first or second team. Pierce County also had the two top players in the region with Kimberly Gray being Pitcher of the Year and Ellington Day being Player of the Year.

Long County also fared well with Tityanna Wilson and Bailey Harrison making the first team and Chante Thomas making the second team. Lady Tide head coach Brian Thomas praised all three players.

"I am very proud of Tityanna Wilson and Bailey Harrison for making it on the first team all-region, and I am also very happy for Chante Thomas for being chosen for the second team all-region," Thomas said.

"Tityanna had a great season, hitting .500 for the regular season and .450 in region play, she also only made two error in all of region play at second base. Her on-base percentage was .633 in region play which was right with the region leaders. Tityanna had a great year as a senior, but more importantly as a team leader, she will be greatly missed next season," Thomas said.

"Bailey had another tremendous season at the plate, she hit .500 for the season and .429 in region play. Bailey played multiple positions for us this season, including pitcher, catcher and shortstop. She did a great job of balancing her offensive output while having to juggle playing so many different defensive positions. I am very proud of Bailey and since she is just a sophomore we are looking forward to her future," Thomas said.

"Chante really excelled during region play where she hit .308 with a .357 on-base percentage. She did a great job of working hard and being very coachable this season. She is a freshman so we are looking forward for three more great years from her," the coach said.
