On Saturday, the Long County basketball teams will travel to Jesup to take on Wayne County. The Blue Tide men go into the game posting a 3-1 record while the Yellow Jackets go in with a 1-2 mark.
When the two teams faced each other last year, the schools split each game with Wayne winning at home 74-64 and Long also winning at home 82-77. In head-to-head action the two rivals have faced each other 14 times with each winning seven games apiece.
In the girls varsity game the Lady Tide goes into the contest with a 1-2 record, while the Lady Yellow Jackets are currently 2-1.
When the two teams faced each other last season the Jesup girls swept the series winning 53-30 and 57-50.
The girls squads have faced each other 10 times, with the Lady Yellow Jackets dominating the series 9-1.
Saturday’s action begins at 3 p.m. with the junior varsity girls hitting the court. The JV boys follow at 4:30, with the girls varsity game tipping off at 6 p.m. The night wraps up with the boy’s game scheduled for 7:30.
