REIDSVILLE -- The Long County Blue Tide and Tattnall County Warrior golf teams opened the 2024 season on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The two teams faced off at Brazell’s Creek Golf Course with the Lady Tide dominating the Warriors and the Blue Tide boys falling in a close match with the Warriors.
The Lady Tide features a host of familiar faces in the 2024 season with Brianna Copes being the clear front runner. In their 165-209 victory over the Warriors, Copes was the low medalist with a score of 51.
Copes was joined by Morgan Goode and Arryah Vaughn with their scores of 57 to lead them to their dominant victory.
The Tide boys lost a close match with the Warriors, falling by a score of 190-186. Rence Skipper was huge for the Tide as he continued to shoot well on his career with a career low score of 39, just 4 over the front nine par.
Joining Skipper were new faces for the boys. Freshmen Gage Owens and Tjayden Vaughn as well as sophomore Alex Valdes all shot well for the Tide in the close loss.
The Tide will now hold their first home match of the season with a matchup against Bryan County on Tuesday, March 5 at Cherokee Rose Country Club.
