The Long County Blue Tide golf team has wrapped up its regular season and they are now looking to advance to the state competition. They dominated Toombs County and McIntosh County Academy in their season finale on Tuesday, April 26.

The boys, who have only lost to one opponent all season, continued that trend when they crushed the Bulldogs and Buccaneers at Cherokee Rose in Hinesville. They shot their lowest team score of the season with a 176, while the Bulldogs scored a 228 and the Buccaneers a 234.

Junior Bryant Bleyman shot a season-low 43 and was the low medalist for the day. Freshman Rence Skipper, sophomore Trent Reddish and senior Jason Carter paced the team with a pair of 44’s and a 45, season lows for the latter two.

The boys finish the regular season 11-1.

The girls were just as dominant in the match, winning their match by 40 strokes against the Bulldogs and Buccaneers. The team combined for a 167, a continuing trend of scoring under 170 since their first loss of the season in mid-March.

Junior Jaden McGowan led the team with a 51 while sophomore Jami Jeffers shot a 53 and junior Ashlyn Tully a 59.

This win brings the Lady Tide to a 9-3 record on the season.

The teams will now travel to Social Circle next week to participate in the area tournament. The match will take place on Tuesday, May 3 at The Creek Golf Course at Hard Labor State Park.
