The Long County Blue Tide softball team was not able to repeat as region champions in the 2023 season, but with most of their starting nine returning next year, they could compete in the newly- formed Region 3-AAA. The teams made one more mark on their old region as the team placed four players on the all-region teams.

Senior Kyleigh Sizemore and junior Ciara O’Brien both were named to the all-region first team. Sizemore made it as a catcher as O’Brien made it on as a third baseman.

Sizemore was the team’s primary clean-up batter throughout the season and has been a staple behind the plate for the last three seasons for the Tide.

O’Brien led the region in triples, hitting 12 on the season. She also made big plays for the Tide at third base, turning seven double plays on the year and serving another veteran role for a team that played six freshmen consistently throughout the year.

Jersi Lester was the lone class of 2027 member on the all-region team as she made the second team as a shortstop. She showed throughout the season why she earned her leadoff spot, stealing 32 bases on the year.

The other senior on the squad, Emma Smith, was given honorable mention for her work at second base in the 2023 season.

With two seniors on the 2023 team and two seniors slated to lead the team in 2024, the Lady Tide have a lot to look forward to with a ton of youth on the team.
