The Long County Lady Blue Tide volleyball team dominated when they welcomed in next county opponents Wayne County and Tattnall County on Monday.

Long topped Tattnall County 25-13 and 25-14 and raced past Wayne County 25-3 and 25-13.

It was never really close in the first set of the match against the Yellow Jackets as the Tide jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The Jackets got a point back to make it 5-2 before the Tide went on a run of 10 straight to go up 15-2.

Aliana Morales had five aces in the run, along with two kills by Shelby Hoard’s two kills. Ava Fleming’s seven aces helped close out the set.

The second set was closer but the Tide were well in control for most of the play. The Jackets led 4-3 but the Tide went on a run of four straight points to go up 10-5 and pulled further ahead with five ace serves from Hoard. The Tide held on to win the set and the match.

After the Jackets dispatched the Warriors 2-0 in the second match, the Tide took the court again against Tattnall County.

The Warriors took an early 5-4 lead in the set before the Tide went on a 7-1 run to go up 11-6. That run included two Morales aces and one from Jayden Clarke.

Sofia Caldelas got in on the fun with five straight ace serves as the Tide went into cruise control for the rest of the set.

They opened the second set on a 7-0 run thanks to Fleming’s six straight ace serves. This run set the Tide up in a good position, but the Warriors worked their way back into the set with a 5-0 run to get the deficit down to 9-6.

However, the Warriors never got closer as the Tide took advantage of Warriors mistakes and fin-ished off the win.

The Tide is now 5-5 on the season. They traveled to Hinesville to take on Liberty County and Johnson on Tuesday, August 18 and will host Bradwell and Woodville-Tompkins on August 25.
