The Long County Blue Tide wrestling team fell in both of its matches at the state Class AAA duals wrestling championships, held at Lumpkin County High School in Dahlonega.

Coahulla Creek knocked the Tide into the consolation bracket with a 68-12 win and Adairsville ended the Tide’s stay with a 49-23 defeat in the first round of the wrestlebacks.

Host Lumpkin County edged Columbus 34-33 in the championship match to claim the state title. Bremen beat Franklin County in the third-place match.

The area wrestling traditionals will be held February 2-3, with sectionals following Feb. 10. The state championships will be held Feb. 15-17 at the Macon Centreplex.
