The Long County Blue Tide softball team had a historic 2025 season and they have garnered multiple accomplishments since the season ended. Junior outfielder Alyssa Skipper received one of the highest honors when she was recognized as one of the best softball players in the state.

On Tuesday, the Georgia Athletics Coaches Association released its softball all-state teams and Skipper was named to the first team as an outfielder.

Skipper becomes the first Lady Tide softball player to make an all-state roster.

She had a .387 batting average and a 1.056 on-base percentage with 31 hits while driving in 25 runs, hitting one home run and stealing eight bases. Defensively, she had a .964 fielding percentage.

“I am so honored to receive this award. Playing outfield has been so much fun,” Skipper said. “I want to thank my sister for being the only one who knows how to get me out of my head when I make a mistake and my dad and brother for practicing with me in the yard all those years. I also want to thank Coach Dawson for always believing in me. She has been an amazing coach. Last, but not least, I want to thank my teammates. They have made me love the sport even more and I have enjoyed every moment of it.”

Skipper was a big part of the Lady Tide’s 2025 season, which saw them finish with a record of 27-6, win their second region title in four years and advance to the second round of the state playoffs as the number three seed in the AAA state playoffs.

Skipper will return with the rest of the Lady Tide in 2026, where the team expects to make a run at another region title.
