Tiger boys take second at Smith and Benson Relays

Bradwell Institute’s Jacoby Pasley won three events, and the Tigers boys track team narrowly finished second at the L.C. Smith and Winfred Benson Relays, held at Albany’s Hugh Mills Stadium.

The Tigers finished with 118 points, just behind Lowndes High’s 126. Valdosta was third with 99 points.

The Bradwell girls were third with 63 points, three points ahead of fourth-place Monroe. Lowndes took the girls team title with 192 points, and Lee County was second at 107.

Bradwell’s boys finished with six first-place finishes. Pasley took the 100-meter dash in 10.44 seconds, won the 200 at 21.93 seconds and captured the 400 in 48.83 seconds.

Ajani Richardson won the 800-meter run in 2:02.21 and he was third in the 400 at 51.11 seconds. Antionne Burnett took first in the triple jump at 44 feet, 3.5 inches.

The Tigers also picked up two firsts in relay events, winning the 4x200 at 1:29.85 and the 4x400 at 3:23.20.

Martavius Phillips took second in the 300 hurdles at 39.13 seconds, and teammate Teron Moore was fifth at 41.38 seconds. Phillips was third in the 110 hurdles at 15.57 seconds, with Moore right behind him at 15.6.

Bradwell’s 4x100 meter relay team was fourth at 43.47 seconds. Burnett was fourth in the long jump at 20 feet, 11 inches, and Danyzion Cobb took fifth at 20-7. Cobb was fifth in the triple jump at 40-10.

Jamaika Sumpter, a freshman, won the girls 100 with a time of 12.4 seconds, and took the 200 in 25.95 seconds.

The girls 4x100 relay team took first with a time of 48.81 seconds and won the 4x200 in 1:43.96. The 4x400 relay team finished third, hitting the finish line at 4:14.96.

Vicky Foday-Kapka took third in the 100 hurdles at 16.31 seconds and she was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 48.53.

Jamiah Powell was fourth in the 400 at 1:01.35.
