Tiger roll to 7-0 start

The Bradwell Institute boys basketball team has stormed to a 7-0 start, after a 93-49 rout of Groves on Saturday afternoon.

Ten Tigers scored, and four finished in double figures. Jah’barri Felix topped the Tigers with 17 points, while Chris Perry scored 15, Zi’on Thomas added 14 and Antonio Haynes chipped in 10 points. Ashton Arnold and Fortune Hicks each had nine points.

Bradwell was 38-of-70 from the floor, a 54% clip, and made 31 of 50 shots from two-point range, a 62% rate.

The Tigers broke out to a 55-14 halftime lead.

Thomas had 11 rebounds to go with his 14 points, and Elijuwon Hale dished out eight assists. The Tigers had 15 steals – five from Felix – and committed just 13 turnovers.

The Tigers stormed back in the third quarter to take control against Lowndes on Friday, staving off a challenge from the Vikings.

Bradwell outscored Lowndes 26-10 in the third quarter, erasing the Vikings’ five-point halftime lead.

Thomas led the way with 17 points while Gregg had 14, Hicks scored 13 and Perry added 12 points. Perry also had eight rebounds and four assists, and Thomas collected seven boards.

The Tigers were just 1-of-11 from 3-point range but made 21-of-44 two-point shots and also attempted 34 free throws.

The Lady Tigers (6-0) had their most stringent challenge of the season to date, holding off longtime state power Lowndes 49-38.

Jamia Ousley had a team-high 18 points, and Destini McLemore added 17 points. Ja’Nya Bush finished with eight points to go with 10 rebounds and four assists.

Bradwell begins a three-game road swing starting December 11 at Calvary Day, followed by a December 13 visit to Lowndes and a December 19 trip to Jenkins.
