Tigers drop two against Effingham

In another three game region 3-AAAAA series, the Bradwell Institute Tigers are currently 0-2 against the Effingham Rebels this week.

Friday's final game will be held at Bradwell. During that game BI will recognize their senior players Chris Bell, Darrius Tilghman, DJ Jefferson CJ Etse, Darrell Hawkins, Stephen Felton, Maxwell Ashe and Brandon Woodard.

The series started Monday in Hinesville where the Tigers and Rebels traded hit for hit on Tiger Field. The visiting Rebels won the contest 17-12.
In that game the Rebels led 2-0 in the first inning, but Tigers DJ Jefferson and Maxwell Ashe scored; Chris Bell hit a two run double; Hunter Hawkins hit a single RBI and Ryan Desbiens scored off an error giving the Tigers a 5-2 lead to start the third inning.

The Rebels brought in three runs and the Tigers added two to make it a 7-5 game in favor of Bradwell as they entered the fourth inning.

That’s when the Rebels hit pay dirt driving in ten runs to the Tigers’ three to take the lead for the rest of the game. Effingham won 17-12.

Desbiens was 2 of 3 with 1 RBI; Evan Crystal was 2 of 4 with 1 RBI; Chris Bell was 2 of 5 with 1 RBI; Stephen Felton was 2 of 3 with 1 RBI.

Crystal pitched three inning giving up 10 runs off seven hits. He struck out three and walked two. Desbiens took the mound for one and one-third inningand gave up one run. He struck out one batter. Bell finished the game giving up six runs off eight hits and walking three.

On Wednesday the series moved to Effingham County High where the Rebels took a decisive 12-3 win on their home turf.

Felton pitched three innings walking five, striking out five and gave up nine runs. Desbiens tossed the remainder of the game giving up three runs and striking out three.

Tiger CJ Etse was 1of 2 with 1 RBI and Desbiens was 1 of 3 with 1 RBI.

The Tigers are 6-13 overall and 0-11 in region play.

 Friday's game starts at 6 p.m.
