Tigers hold off Blue Devils in key region showdown

Zi’on Thomas had 15 points and Chris Perry added 14 as the Bradwell Institute Tigers picked up a big Region 1-AAAAA road win Tuesday night, beating Statesboro 58-49.

The Tigers (15-4 overall, 2-1 region) opened the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run, breaking a 34-34 tie, and never gave up the lead after that.

JaiCaden Cone led the Blue Devils with 25 points.

The Brunswick Pirates defended their home court on Saturday night, handing the Tigers boys their first region loss of the season with a 72-55 setback.

Brunswick outscored Bradwell 18-8 in the second quarter to take control of the game.

The Tigers were just 18 of 64 from the floor in shooting.

Perry led Bradwell with 19 points, and Jordan Stevens added 12.

The Pirates improved to 14-1 overall and 2-0 in the region.

The Tigers travel to South Effingham on January 17 for another region contest and return to the BI gym January 21 to host Glynn Academy.
