More than 100 players are on the field for the Bradwell Institute Tigers as the first week of practice in full pads got underway Monday.

Coach Deshon Brock said about 65-70 will be on the varsity squad once the Tigers start the season.

Bradwell will take part in a three-team jamboree August 9 at Bryan County with the host Redskins and Windsor Forest. The Tigers open the regular season August 16 at home against Liberty County.

Work on the Tigers’ playing surface at Olvey Field/Hokey Jackson Stadium continues, and the new artificial surface is expected to be ready for the season opener in two weeks.
