Tigers swept in doubleheader

Bradwell Institute played a Region 3-AAAAA doubleheader at Effingham County on Monday, falling 16-0 and 15-0 in shortened games.

In game 1, Rebel Will Hodges led Effingham at the plate. He was a perfect 2 for 2 with five RBIs, including a home run. Rebels Josh Long, Landon Bell and Will Harden each had two RBIs. Effingham converted seven hits into 16 runs, scoring eight in the firstinning and eight in the second to call the game.

Hodges pitched the three-inning game, tossing four strikeouts for the Rebels.

Tigers Evan Crystal, Brennan Long and Wes Brook each batted 1 for 2.

Crystal pitched an inning and a half, giving up five hits, 12 runs and six walks. Kai Ash pitched relief.

In game 2, the Tigers trailed 6-0 when the Rebels went on a seven-run spree in the bottom of the third. The Rebels scored two more in the fourth.

Tiger Hunter Hawkins was 2 for 2, Crystal was 1 for 1 and Robert Rivera was 1 for-2 at bat.

Rebel Perry Fulcher led the home team, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs.

Ash tossed two strikeouts in two innings. Javin Tripp struck out four Rebels in the loss.

The Tigers host the Rebels at 6 tonight.

The late Kirk Warner will be among five inductees for the Liberty County Athletic Hall of Fame’s class of 2025. The induction ceremony will take place April 24 at the John McIver Auditorium at the Liberty County East End Complex in Midway, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Other members of the class include Jeff Deloach, Charmaine Milton Gatlin, Bill Stanford and Rick Wege.
