The Bradwell Institute boys’ track team started its season strong Saturday by finishing first at the Early Bird Invitational at Savannah State University.
The Tigers battling freezing rain and 10 teams other teams, won the team title with 160 points.
The Lady Tigers placed third in their division.
The coaching staff was pleased with the team’s performances in the harsh temperatures, said Tiger coach DeAndre Davis. Weather forced the cancellation of some races, he said, but the meet was still was a valid measuring tool in evaluating the team.
“We saw some things that we liked. We also saw things that needed improvement,” Davis said.
The Tigers host a junior-varsity meet Thursday and the inaugural Tiger Relays at 10 a.m. Saturday. Admission to Saturday’s event is $5.
