Long County traveled to Jeff Davis and the Bradwell Tigers were in Jesup playing Wayne County Wednesday. Both squads came out on the losing end of the bats with the Blue Tide losing 17-7 and the Tigers falling 11-5.

It was a region 2-AA loss for the Blue Tide. Jeff Davis mercied the game in five innings. The Tide is still ranked fourth in the region, according to Georgia Prep, rolling a 5-7 region record and a 6-14 overall.

Long County plays host to Charlton County at 6 tonight.

The Tigers were scheduled to play Beach High on Tuesday, but the game was called due to the condition of the field. Wednesday’s loss to Wayne County was a non-region loss so the Tigers remain in fourth place of region 3-AAAAA.

Bradwell faces two tough region opponents early next week.

On Monday the Tigers will be at Jenkins going against the top-ranked team in their region at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday they battle third place Groves at 5 p.m. in Savannah.

Tiger coach Rhett Hellgren said the next two games are huge for final positioning in the region and said they will likely face the Warriors’ ace TJ Page who has struck out 26 batters in his last two games on the mound.
