It appeared the Barracudas were staging a comeback during a tournament in Waycross July 10, when suddenly the skies opened and the rain came down.
The Barracudas took the loss in game one when it was called in the fourth inning and they trailed 12-4. Coach Chris Bell and Wes Crystal had made adjustments and the Barracudas were in position to score runs when the rain ended their chances.
The 12U travel team, founded here in 2007, was undefeated going into the championship, double-elimination game.
Not able to complete game one or begin game two the umpires flipped a coin to determine the champions. The Barracudas finished second.
The coaches and players said their trip to Waycross was made possible by Smiling Buddha Tattoo Studio who sponsored them for the weekend.
The team was scheduled to play in Blackshear this weekend.
Coach Bell and Crystal have plans to move the team into the 13U bracket in August and play in sanctioned United States Specialty Sports Association events.
The team has placed well this season, playing in Vidalia, Hazelhurst, Waycross, Statesboro, Blackshear, Patterson and Liberty County.
Playing for the USSSA league will add Pooler, Augusta and Statesboro to their circuit.
