Savannah State University’s junior designated hitter Trey Sikes was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference 2014 All-Conference Baseball Team, according to a press release issued by meacsports.com.
Sikes, a former Liberty County High School player, led the conference in RBIs with 51, tied for the lead in doubles with 15 and topped the conference in homeruns with 10.
Sikes has been invited to play in the Cape Cod Summer league, his father Charles Sikes said. His mother, Kathy Sikes, said he’ll leave at the end of the month.
“His mother Kathy and I are very proud of his accomplishments. He has put in a lot of hard work,” Charles Sikes said.
Teammate and Panther alumni Aaron Hoffer, a senior catcher at SSU, earned MEAC All-Academic honors. And teammate Brandon Whitmore, a pitcher who is also a former LCHS Panther, has been invited to play during the summer in New York.
