LUDOWICI — True Vine defeated Faith Baptist Church, 65-52, last week to win the FBC Men’s Basketball League championship.
True Vine was sponsored by the Community for a Social Change in Glennville. According to coach Jeryl Bacon, the organization was created to promote positive changes in the community.
The league is sponsored by FBC and, according to tournament director Jared Sellars, it is open to men 16 and older. This year there were five teams in the 10-game regular season, followed by a double-elimination tournament.
The other teams were from Faith Baptist Church, Glennville Church of God, Ebenezer Baptist Church and Jesup Church of God.
Members of the first place team were Zack Fields, Corey Colwell, James Bacon, Keith Calhoun, Brandon McRae, Carl Jackson, Rodney Nails, Shawn Calhoun and Bacon.
"Everyone did a great job, and had a good time," Sellars said. "We also appreciate the school and church for letting us use the gym for our games."
Sellars said there will be another men’s league beginning in August. Churches are encouraged to participate.
