Anyone who is remaining in the Hinesville area for Thanksgiving weekend and wants to entertain guests has a new option at their disposal — Winter Slam.
“Our first annual Winter Slam is here and we are about set to go,” Slam producer Ernie Walthour Sr. said. “The fun starts at the Skybox Lounge in Midway on Friday night where musicians from Atlanta, Oklahoma and right here in Hinesville are prepared to hit the stage and sing their hearts out.”
Local groups, such as 380, Milkman and other local bands hit the stage starting at 11:30 p.m. The Skybox is scheduled to open for the event by 9 p.m. Admission is $5 until 11:30 p.m. and $10 afterwards.
The fun continues Saturday when the Slam moves into Salters Field for a car show.
“The response to the cars show has been tremendous,” he said. “When we did the summer slam, we had over 1,000 people show up for this event. You register your car the day of the event so we don’t know exactly how many we may have, but we are hoping for another huge crowd. We are going to have different categories and we will award trophies to the first, second and third place winners of each category.”
There will also be a rim contest, several food vendors and fun for all ages.
The gates to Salters Field open at 10 a.m. Saturday and admission is $5 for the day.
