The last two softball meets for the Lady Tigers ended with losses, but the coach and the team continue with optimism that more game experience and the development of their younger players will help turn the team around.
Head coach Sharyl Eastlake has said the young ladies need to remain confident in their abilities throughout the entire game, not just when things go their way.
The lone senior on the team, pitcher Jena Alford, continues to mentor and teach her fellow teammates and maintains her humor even during the tough losses.

Against the Atom Smashers
On Sept. 11, the Tigers hosted the Johnson Atom Smashers and held them scoreless until the fourth inning.
Alford struck out 11 batters and only gave up two walks. She was struck in the head on the first pitch of the game, placing her on first base. She then stole second and third and was brought in for the score when Brandi Huerd hit one out to center field.
The Tigers scored again in the top of the third when Kelsey Rogers was hit by another wild pitch. The next two batters Patrice Anatalan and Brandi Huerd walked, and Tamika Lipscomb hit a single to bring in the two runs.
Johnson scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a walk, stolen base and a hit.
The Atom Smashers scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on four consecutive hits and one error. They took home the 5-3 win.

Against the Wildcats
The Lady Tigers hosted the Camden County Wildcats Tuesday afternoon with the Wildcats taking a bite out of the lady Tigers in the fifth inning.
The Tigers had allowed only two runs scored in fourth when the Wildcats scored another two.
But in the fifth inning, a series of infield errors and a homerun hit by Camden County opened up the floodgates for the Wildcats. The Wildcats brought in four more runs that inning shutting out the Tigers, 8-0.
By the end of the sixth inning, the Tigers looked at a 13-0 deficit with their last chance at bat.
Despite the loss, Jena Alford was strong on the mound for the Lady Tigers, never letting up and striking out key Wildcat batters.
The Tigers faced Jenkins Thursday and look to compete against Groves at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at home.
