Celebration party store in the Kroger shopping center at 551 Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville has helped a lot of area folks “get their green on” for St. Patrick’s Day today. Most people buy items to wear or give to friends for the “everything-Irish” holiday, according to Celebration staff.
The store’s St. Patty’s Day top sellers are:
1. Derby hats
2. Beads
3. Bracelets
4. Temporary tattoos (shamrocks are a favorite)
5. And, of course, party decorations
Celebration store owner Pamela Rogers has been in business for 16 years in Hinesville. The store, in its existence as Celebration, has been open for five years.
Rogers sells balloons, Blue Mountain and other types of cards, gifts, party supplies and collectibles such as Painted Ponies, Shades of Africa figurines and Jim Shore Christmas angels.
Of St. Patrick’s Day customers, Rogers said they’re often “last-minute buyers.” Rogers said some of her yearly St. Patrick’s Day customers come from the Shellman’s Bluff community on the Liberty/McIntosh county line. These folks prepare for St. Patrick’s Day by decorating their golf carts, she said.
Others plan to participate in Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities, Rogers said. The St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Savannah will kick off at 10:15 a.m. today.
