Spc. Curtis Rorro is serving in Iraq with the First Infantry Division Aviation unit in Iraq and his brother Pfc Terry Rorro is serving at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, and is expecting to soon deploy to Afghanistan.
The brothers are the sons of Nick and Andie Rorro of Ludowici, went to Liberty County High School and joined the Army soon afterward.

Air Force Airman Janet J. Alvarado has graduated from the Weather Forecaster Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
The course trains students in the fundamentals of Air Force weather forecasting. Forecasters are trained in weather observing and analysis, tropical weather analysis and forecasting, weather satellite imagery interpretation, Doppler weather radar operation and computer-generated graphics, interpretation of weather effects on electro-optics weapons systems, and automated weather distribution system operations.
She is the daughter of Edwin and Luz Alvarado of Hinesville.
Alvarado is a 2006 graduate of the Bradwell Institute, Hinesville.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Kory D. McDaniel has arrived for duty in Sterling Heights, Mich.
He is a recruiter assigned to the Great Lakes Battalion.
He is the son of Isaac Jefferson of Hinesville and Joyce Jefferson of Allenhurst.
His wife, Chantell, is the daughter of Aaron and Debora Harris of Prince George, Va.
In 1996, he graduated from Long County High School in Ludowici.

Three area young people have recently graduated from Army basic combat training:
• Army Pvt. Vincent I. Thomas graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Edward and Shirley Thornton of Hinesville and a 2001 graduate of the Bradwell Institute.
• Army National Guard Pfc. Pierre Powers graduated from basics at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Micheal Powers of Riceboro.
• Army National Guard Pfc. Natasha M. Rice graduated from basics at Fort Jackson. She is the daughter of Roger Rice of Midway and Wanda F. Richardson of Tar Heel, N.C. Rice is a 2004 graduate of West Bladen High School, Bladenboro, N.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills.

Marine Corps Pfc. Stephen W. Lowe, a 2006 graduate of Bradwell Institute, recently reported for duty with Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron One, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in Okinawa, Japan.
Lowe joined the Marine Corps in June 2006.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Tremaine C. McCallum, son of Robin M. Adams-Massenberg of Hinesville and Otis W. McCallum of Indianapolis, Ind., recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Air Control Squadron Four, Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan.
McCallum was promoted based on job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty.
McCallum is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence North High School of Indianapolis and joined the Marine Corps in June 2006.
