Family: “ I have two sons Mario Jr., 21, and Anthony, 19

What brought you to Hinesville?
“My husband is active duty with the U.S. military and has been stationed at Fort Stewart since August of 2004.”

Position: Senior communications clerk, Hinesville Police Department

How did you get into this profession: “I was lucky enough and very fortunate that when I moved to Hinesville, the job opened up,” Canga said. “It’s my first job with a law enforcement agency.”

What does your job entail?
“I take all the incoming calls, and handle the public at the window. It’s mostly greeting the public and finding out where they need to go and what they’re here for.”

You recently won an award from the Hinesville Police Department.
What was that for? “Civilian of the Year for the Hinesville Police Department.”

What does it mean to you to be recognized for your efforts?
I feel very fortunate and grateful to the department.  Everybody here is really great and I enjoy the people I work around.”

What’s your favorite part of the job?
“Dealing with the public. I like being on the front line and being the first person the public has to go through. So, it’s working with the public.”

What’s your least favorite part of the job?
“I’m really lucky, I don’t really don’t have a least favorite part. In this economy, I’m very fortunate to have a good job and the people are great to work with.”
