Three complete Army's basic training

Three young people with ties to Liberty County have graduated from basic military with the U.S. Army.
• Army Pvt. Catherine C. Grissett graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the sister of Daysha Grissett of Hinesville.
• Army Reserve Pfc. Elijuwon B. Hale has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Cheryl Greene of Hinesville. Hale is a 2004 graduate of the Bradwell Institute.
• Army National Guard Pvt. Mark Ryals graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Mark Ryals of Riceboro.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Mark Palang has arrived for duty at Osan Air Base, South Korea.
The airman is a security forces journeyman assigned to the 51st Fighter Wing. He is the son of John and Helen Palang of Hinesville.
Palang is a 2004 graduate of the Bradwell Institute.

Donnie Pulliam has been selected to attend the 2007 Junior National Young Leaders Conference this spring in Washington, D.C.
He was nominated by his teachers based on his academic achievements and leadership potential. He is a sixth grade honor student at Midway Middle School.
He will travel to Washington and attend a special reception on Capitol Hill just for junior scholars. He will also visit the White House, the Pentagon, the Lincoln Memorial, and will receive a VIP view of other historic foundations throughout Washington. He is a member of the student council, Builder’s Club and is a boy scout. He is a writer and has published his first children’s book. He is a member of Christ the Rock Ministries. His parents are Monica Robertson and James Payno.
