Nomination time for Win-dex awards

It’s time again for nominations for the quarterly Win-dex Awards. The Win-dex Awards are sponsored by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Keep Liberty Beautiful. These awards recognize local businesses that make an effort to look good.
Why should you care if local businesses are attractive? Attractive businesses attract more customers, which generates more business, which creates a better opportunity for success. Successful enterprises and an attractive community bring more business to our community, creating jobs and a healthy local economy. These days, that cycle is even more important than usual.
We need your help in giving attractive businesses in our community the recognition they deserve. Each quarter, we select two winners — a large business and a small business. So don’t think a small “mom and pop” operation doesn’t have a chance. Every business can keep its exterior and landscaping neat, regardless of size or budget.
Many of our current and past Win-dex Award winners are run by people who have figured out that looking good makes a statement about their operation. A well-maintained property brings in more customers and creates a positive work environment for employees.
Here’s a list of all the previous Win-dex winners:
• Harbor Bay Car Wash in Midway
• Liberty County Board of Education Central Office
• Coastal Electric Cooperative
• Stacy’s Florist in Flemington
• Kentucky Fried Chicken on Highway 84
• Parker’s stores
• The Coastal Bank
• Liberty Glass
• Island Real Estate in Midway
• First Presbyterian Christian Academy (current winner)
• Allstate Insurance (current winner)
All of these businesses were excellent choices, and there were so many other fantastic nominees. If you nominated a business that hasn’t won yet, don’t give up. Nominate them again.
We call these awards the Win-dex Awards because we celebrate businesses that are so clean, attractive and litter-free that they have a “streak-free shine.” There are plenty of them out there. Just look around you. Also, feel free to nominate your own business or your employer.
Nomination forms are available at the KLCB offices at Environmental Health or at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce office on Oglethorpe Highway. You can also e-mail me at klcb@coastalnow.net for a form. Completed forms can be mailed to P.O. Box 829, Hinesville, GA 31310; faxed to 368-4777 or e-mailed. You can e-mail your information directly by including all of the information requested on the form. Remember, your reason for nominating a business is a crucial part of the judging, so make sure you fully explain why you’ve chosen a specific place. Nominations will be accepted June 1-30. Your vote counts. Send a nomination in and let a local business know you appreciate its effort.

More upcoming KLCB events that need your help:
