The city of Hinesville, along with Target and other community partners, again are joining forces for a communitywide crime-prevention event.
The 2013 Community Night Out celebration will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Liberty Independent Troop Park on Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville. More than 30 vendors are expected to attend.
According to Hinesville public relations manager Krystal Hart, several changes are planned for this year’s event, but the purpose still is the same as in previous years — to heighten crime-prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
“This is a night for our community to come together and highlight our police-community partnerships,” said Hinesville Crime Prevention Officer James Williams, the event coordinator. “It is also a time to empower our citizens to become involved in creating a safe, unified community for us all to enjoy.”
Community Night Out will feature food, information vendors, a softball derby, entertainment and a segment on bullying prevention.
