Don’t miss The Great Marne Scavenger Hunt, March 3-10.

To register, go to FMWR’s Webtrac site at There’s no charge.

Players will receive clue passports and rules via e-mail on March 3 at 8:30 a.m., and the hunt is on until 8:30 a.m. March 10.

Then, crack the clues and go to the spot to get your passport stamped. To add to the fun, a challenge may be await you at the spot.

When you complete the passport, drop it in a designated box.

The winner’s name will be drawn from the completed passports at the Travel Show and Community Showcase at Club Stewart March 11.


Family fun run

Run or walk the 5K or 1.5-mile course during Hunter Army Airfield’s Shamrock Family Fun Run at 10 a.m. March 1.

The first 100 participants (12 and older) who sign up and complete the run on Stephen Douglas/Perimeter road will get free T-shirts.

Registration is free. Late registration can be completed 9:30 a.m. at the starting point.

A clock will show runners their times.

Soccer league

Companies interested in playing soccer and proving who is the best Fort Stewart or Hunter should submit a memo to the Bennett Sports Complex on Stewart or Squires Sports Complex at Hunter by March 3.

Play begins March 10, with games at 6 and 7 p.m. at the Sports Annex on Stewart or Squires Sports Complex at Hunter.

Camp with BOSS

Join BOSS for a Single Soldier Retreat of fishing, hiking, swimming and everything else Coffee County State Park has to offer, March 7-9.

The $20 cost includes transportation and food. Participants are asked to register by March 3 at the Stewart or Hunter Leisure Travel office. For more information, call 202-9593.


Bass tournament

A Catch and Release Bass Tournament will begin at 6:30 a.m. March 15 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart.

Prizes are $250 for first-place and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes will be awarded.

Anglers can fish from the bank or launch a bass boat (trolling motors only). No live bait will be permitted.

Participants must have state and Stewart/Hunter fishing permits, unless younger than 15. Fees vary and are based on registration.

The tournament is open to everyone, even civilians.

3 on 3 basketball

Fort Stewart's Newman Fitness Center will host a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament March 25-27 if at least 10 teams sign up.

Teams will compete in a double elimination, self-officiated, half-court contest. The winning team will get $300.

The tournament is open to all DoD cardholders and guests 17 and older. Teams may register at Newman Fitness Center through March 10. Entry fee is $30 per team.

Color run

Register now for the Extreme Color Run April 5 at Holbrook Outdoor Recreation Area.

The untimed event will take runners five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. The runners will be “colored” as they pass different color stations. The run begins at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to prepare for the run. To volunteer, or for more information, call 767-6212.

Runners fees are $20 per person through March 24, then $30 per person.


Lt. Dan Band

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be in concert at 5 p.m. April 6 at Donovan Field. 

The free concert is presented by the USO in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation. Those attending are asked to bring their own seating.

Pets, smoking, grills, coolers, glass bottles and weapons are prohibited. Vendors will be on-site.


Power lifting

“The Rock” Power Lifting and Bench Press Competition is set for April 12 at Newman Fitness Center. Weigh-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the competition at 10:15.

Contestants will be placed into a weight class and must complete a bench press to qualify for an award. Each competitor will attempt three lifts. The highest overall weight will determine class winners.

Registration until March 28 costs is $10 and then $15 until April 12.

Course on reintegration

Registration is open for a one-day “The Journey from ‘Welcome Home’ to Now: Reunion, Reconnecting, Routine,” course.

Space is limited. The training is presented by The Military Child Education Coalition and will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 28 at the Liberty County College and Career Academy.

Professionals who support military-connected children and youth will learn about what children face following a family member’s return from an extended absence. Participants will learn strategies to help students adjust during the reunion and and reestablishing family routine.

CG's golf scramble

You’re invited to Maj. Gen. Mike Murray’s four-person scramble March 28 at Hunter Golf Course. Play starts at noon.  

The $35 per person cost includes golf cart, driving range and prizes. Players are asked to register by March 27.

T-ball, baseball

Register by March 14 for Hunter Youth Sports’ T-ball and baseball. T-ball is for ages 5-6, coach pitch 7-8, fast pitch 9-10, and Little League 11-12.

Play begins in late April on Hunter, YMCA and Chatham County fields.

The cost is $30 for CYSS youth.
