Locals earn degrees from Kaplan

CHICAGO — Kaplan University celebrated the graduation of its summer 2009 class during a ceremony July 25 in Chicago. Award-winning actress America Ferrera, star of ABC Television’s popular series “Ugly Betty,” was the commencement speaker. The following local students were awarded degrees:
• Jodie Ellis of Hinesville was awarded an associate’s of applied science in business administration.
• Deanthony Rosser of Hinesville was awarded an associate’s of applied science in business administration.
“Education is the key to improving our economic standing and most importantly, our understanding of the world,” Ferrera told graduates during the ceremonyin the grand ballroom at Chicago’s Navy Pier. “With your degrees, knowledge and passion for learning, you are now going back into the world to better the lives of those around you.”
The Kaplan University summer 2009 class of more than 2,500 students earned their associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees completely online.
