The committee of the Henry “Hank” White Memorial Scholarship Fund has set the third annual Hank White Memorial Golf Tournament for Aug. 11, starting at 9 a.m. at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville.
It is hosted by the First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Hinesville with the aim of providing scholarships for college-bound seniors.
Last year, when special guests were Hershel Walker and Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, the tournament raised enough to provide seven $1,000 scholarships to students this year.
“The committee is once again looking forward to an exciting and prosperous golf tournament for our participants and the youth of the community,” chairwoman Josephine White said. “As we look to the future, we anticipate your continued support in this worthwhile event and we are confident that our goals and aspirations for the youth in our community will continue to prosper.”
The tournament will be a four-man scramble. Entry costs $50 per player and the registration deadline is Aug. 4. Prizes will be awarded for the first three places, as well as longest drive on number 14, longest putt on 18, closest to pin on 3, 7 and 17, and for a putting contest. A hole in one on 13 will earn the player a 2007 Toyota Camry or Tacoma Extra Cab.
Dinner will be served after tournament and additional door prizes will be awarded during the award ceremony.
