Ballroom dancing

 

Jamie Cooke, who is certified with 16 years of experience instructing couples and singles in ballroom, swing, Latin and country-western dance, will teach ballroom dancing at the Liberty County YMCA. Savannah Senate TNBA Bowling Association

The ninth annual mixed teams and mixed doubles tournament is set for Jan. 10-11,17-18 and 24-25 at AMF Savannah Lanes. The cost is $30 per event.

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life nine-pin no-tap bowling tournament will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Marne Lanes on Fort Stewart.

Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The entry fee is $20, and three games will be bowled.

Prizes awarded will include first-place team, first-place doubles and best individual score.

Registration for CYS (Child and Youth Services) basketball and cheerleading has started and will continue until all slots are filled.

These programs are open to CYS members in the following age categories: basketball, ages 5-18 (as of Jan. 1), and cheerleading, ages 6-13 (as of Dec. 31). Register at Fort Stewart CYS, Building 443 on Gulick Avenue. The hours of operation are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.

The Liberty County YMCA is currently registering for January dance classes.

The class schedule will begin Jan. 6.

Mondays 4-4:45 p.m.: 5-6 years, marching monkeys combo dance.

Mondays 5-6 p.m.: 7-8 years, tiny dancers combo dance.

Mondays 6-7 p.m.: 9-11 years, star dancers combo dance.

Wednesdays 6-6:45 p.m.: 5-6 years, tiny dancers combo class.

Wednesdays 6:45-7:45 p.m.: 7-8 years, star dancers combo class.

Youth basketball camp

The Lady Hornets basketball team will host a spring camp for girls ages 7-15 on March 14-15. The camp will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. both days at the Liberty County YMCA, 201 Mary Lou Drive, Hinesville. The campers will be drilled in basketball fundamentals, take part in daily games, listen to lectures and go over strategy.
