YMCA martial arts and taekwondo

 

The YMCA is offering tae kwon do and martial arts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Classes start May 4 and registrations are being accepted. The age groups are: tiger cubs (ages 3-4), juniors (ages 7-12), teen/adult (ages 13 and up) and women’s self-defense (ages 13 and up). Bradwell Tiger baseball update

 

 

The Bradwell boys faced off against Jenkins on Thursday and were tied at 5 going into the bottom of the 4th inning, when 3 errors cost them 5 runs. Jenkins stays undefeated in the region, winning 12-7. But the Tigers remain in third place in region 3-AAAAA, defeating Johnson at home Friday, 10-5. C-Port Lady Hornets
seek sponsors

The C-Port Lady Hornets of Hinesville, a women's semi-pro basketball team, is seeking sponsors.

The benefits of sponsoring the team include advertisement on a national-level.

Summer Slam accepting
talent, vendors

 

This year’s Summer Slam is July 5 and will include local musical talent, food vendors, car clubs and DJs.

Summer Slam organizers are accepting registration for local musicians and bands, vendors and DJs who want to participate in the one day event that usually draws several hundred people.

The gates will open at 1 p.m. and admission to the event is $5. The decibel drag starts at 3 p.m. and local musicians will take the stage starting around 5 p.m.

This year’s event will also feature a DJ competition.

Year of the NCO Golf
Tournament

The Coastal Empire Chapter of the Association of the United States Army is hosting its "Year of the NCO" golf tournament at the Taylor’s Creek Golf Course on Fort Stewart on Friday, June 19, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The rain date is June 25.

It’s a four-person scramble tournament and the registration fee is $30. Sponsorships are available for the following prices:

Title sponsor $2,500, meal sponsor $1,500, beverage sponsor $1,500, team of four and a hole sponsorship (AUSA non-member) $325, team four and a hole sponsorship (AUSA Member) $275, hole sponsor (AUSA non-member) $250, hole sponsor (AUSA member) $200, team of four $100 and individual players $30

St. James Summer Camp

 

Registration is under way for St. James summer day camp. Registration hours are from 2-7 p.m. and the fee is $50 per week. The camp hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday- Friday

Activities for ages 5-13 include swimming, bowling, skating, arts and crafts, basketball and field trips to Splash-n-The Boro and Chuck E Cheese. For more information, Call Ernie Walthour at 884-3016 or 980-4559.

 

This is your land

About 8 percent of Georgia's landscape is considered public land, open to explore. This includes state, city and county parks, national wildlife refuges, wildlife management areas, national forests, and more.

The upcoming "Georgia Outdoors" takes a closer look at the ecology of these lands, and the outdoor activities available to the public. The episode is scheduled on Georgia Public Broadcasting channels at 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, noon and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. Team Hinesville seeks help with travel expenses

 

Team Hinesville’s weightlifting team is seeking donations for upcoming trips to the AAU Junior Olympics and World and National qualifiers.

World ranked Olympic weightlifter Jenna Bussard, coach of Team Hinesville, said participants pay their own expenses so she is always eager to accept donations to help further Team Hinesville. If you would like to make a donation, call her at 429-0931.

 

CYS baseball, T-ball

 

Registration for youth baseball and T-ball on Fort Stewart will run through May 8, or until slots are no longer available.

Baseball is open to current CYS members age 7-14 (as of Aug. 1), boys and girls and T-ball is open to current CYS members age 4-6 (as of May 1) boys and girls.

Tentative age divisions for baseball will be 7-8 pitching machine, 9-10 pitching machine, and 11-14 live pitch. Register at CYS, Bldg. 443, Gulick Ave. (next to Corkan Pool). Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

If you would like to volunteer to coach, visit CYS or Jordan Youth Gym (Bldg. 608 W. 6th St.) and ask for an application. All new applicants must submit to screening and background checks.
