Liberty County YMCA hosting fitness weekend April 9-11

 

Individuals looking to become certified personal trainers, group fitness instructors or cycle certified, along with numerous workshops, should call Richard Somerville at 368-9622 for details.

 

MLK golf

tournament set for April 17

 

The Liberty County Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Association will host its annual golf tournament at noon, Saturday, April 17, at the Cherokee Rose Country Club Golf Course, 225 Cherokee Trail in Hinesville. The fee is $50 per player or $200 per team.

There are still corporate sponsorship slots available for $1,500 and $500 and hole sponsorships for $100.

Check-in starts at noon. Tee time is 1 p.m. There will be door prizes and lunch. To register, make checks payable to Liberty County MLKOA, Inc. and mail them to P.O. box 1626, Hinesville, GA 31310. All proceeds fund academic scholarships for Liberty County High School seniors. For more information, call Kenny Howard at 884-2797.

The Bradwell Institute football staff will have a players/parents meeting for the incoming ninth-graders who are interested in joining the Tigers’ squad. The meeting will be at 6 p.m., April 15, at the school’s gym.

 

Liberty

Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic

The fourth annual Liberty County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be on April 23 at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. Fees are $200 per four-person teams or $60 per individual player. St. James summer camp

Registration for the St. James summer camp will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday, April 12, at St. James. Folks can register in person or register by e-mailing st_jamescenter@hotmail.com

The camp is open for ages 5-13 and will start May 25. Camp hours are from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday but will be closed on holidays. The fee is $50 per week. Campers will participate in bowling, basketball, soccer, skating, field trips, social activities and more. For more information, call 884-3016 or 980-4559.

 

2010 ADA Kiss-A-Pig ‘Porker Run’

Hop on a hog and help Team Liberty candidate Jon Long kiss a pig as he raises money for the American Diabetes Association. The run is open to motorcycles, cars and trucks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Liberty Regional Medical Center, 462 E. G. Miles Parkway. Fees are $20 per person and $5 for additional hands.
