Incoming eighth- through 12th-grade Bradwell Institute students who are interested in playing fall baseball should attend a team meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the school field. Attendees will discuss the upcoming season and workout. All games are Saturday double-headers.

scrimmage tickets on sale now
The BI Tigers vs. Liberty Panthers football scrimmage will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Donell Woods Stadium. Tickets went on sale Aug. 9, and are available at both schools and the board of education office. Tickets are $7 and are available in advance only. The schools’ junior varsity squads likely will scrimmage, too.
A scrimmage is not an official game and the outcome will not affect the teams’ win-loss records. No shuttle bus services will be provided by the county or schools. For more information, call 876-2161, 368-6123 or 876-4316.
All-Stars taking applications
Scott’s All-Stars basketball team currently is taking applications for the 2011 season. The organization will have fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys teams. Practice is every second weekend (on Saturday and Sunday) at 3 p.m. at the YMCA. Anyone interested can call Marcus Scott IV at 655-4371 or Darrell West at 321-9945. Coaches also are needed. Leaps and Bounds
Gymnastics starts new program
Leaps and Bounds Gymnastic Center in Jesup has added an all-star competitive cheer program. Owner/coach Vanessa Kuhns has enlisted the assistance of Sammi Hester, a national champion coach with several years of experience, to run the program.
Hester will have a meeting for prospective cheerleaders and parents at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16. Anyone between the ages of 3-18 or high school seniors can attend. No cheer experience is necessary. For more information, call 977-6825.
