Enmark Savannah River Run

 

The Enmark Savannah River Bridge Run is open for registration. You can register online at www.active.com, in person at Savannah’s Fleet Feet Sports or even by downloading a registration form and mail it in. Register before Oct. 31 and the entry fee is $28. Register from Nov. 1-Dec. 2 and the entry fee is $30. The entry fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Participants cannot register on the day of the race. The Bridge Run gives participants the chance to conquer Savannah’s Talmadge Bridge, a 1.4-mile span at a 5.5 percent grade, 196 feet above the Savannah River. It features a 5K Run/Walk, a 10K Run, a Double-Pump Race, a Team Challenge, the Double-Pump Team Challenge and a 1/4 mile Kids Run. The event is scheduled for Dec. 4. Sign up for the 50 Bird Skeet and Trap Shoot

Registration forms for the 50 Bird Skeet and Trap Shoot are being accepted at various locations (buildings 8093 8325 on Fort Stewart or building 1286 on Hunter Army Airfield). The event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Stewart Skeet and Trap Range, building 8332. This is a single-person event (50 targets) with four divisions for skeet (expert, intermediate, youth and beginner) and no divisions for trap.  Participants also may sign up for the skeet and trap combined event with 100 targets. The entry fee for two rounds of skeet or trap is $25, and two rounds of skeet and trap combined is $40.  There will be prizes for winners in each division, based on the number of entries.  At 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26, there will be a Marne muster to go over the rules and distribute shoot times to signed-up shooters. Also during the muster, there will be a white bird shoot (25 targets).  The entry fee for the white bird shoot is $5 per shooter with one round of skeet. Prizes will be awarded per flight and for the overall highest number. For more information, call 912-767-2515. 

Coastal Georgia Soccer Association registration

The Coastal Georgia Soccer Association is accepting registration for recreation teams. The fee for 4U-8U players is $70 to register plus a $36.50 uniform fee, which applies to new 6U and 8U players only. The registration fee for 10U and 14U players is $85, plus $36.50 for a youth uniform or $38.50 for adult sizes. Association officials plan to start a 14U team in Midway for players in the Fort Stewart and Midway areas. Practices will be in Midway and games will be on weekends in Savannah. All-Stars taking applications

Scott’s All-Stars basketball team currently is taking applications for the 2011 season. The organization will have fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys teams. Practice is every second weekend (on Saturday and Sunday) at 3 p.m. at the YMCA. Anyone interested can call Marcus Scott IV at 655-4371 or Darrell West at 321-9945. Coaches also are needed. Monday Night Mixed Bowling League

 Saturday Morning Youth Bowling League

The Fort Stewart Youth Bowling League will register bowlers, ages 3-18, from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 11, at Marne Lanes on Fort Stewart. Bowlers must register on Sept. 11 to ensure placement. Football Tigers selling discount cards

The Bradwell Tigers football squad has 2010-11 discount cards for sale for $10. Cardholders get discounts at local restaurants, Pro Feet shoe store and Jiffy Lube. For more information, call the BI athletic office at 368-6123. 

SGK Baller-size

SGK Baller-size workout sessions are every Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the YMCA and every Monday and Wednesday from noon-3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Christian Academy.  Inaugural Sunbury 5K run/walk is Sept. 25

Sponsors, volunteers and participants are needed for the first Sunbury 5K run/walk, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Diabetes Association. Registration costs $25 per person, and the race is open to all ages; however, those younger than 18 must have waivers signed by parents or guardians, according to the Active.com site. The race starts at the Sunbury Crab Co. and the course will take participants through the neighborhoods of Sunbury. Prizes will be awarded in different age groups and all registered participants will receive T-shirts. Participants can register online at www.fleetfeetsavannah.com or www.active.com. Cat Walk submissions due

Bradwell Institute is building a “Cat Walk of Fame” featuring former BI athletes who played sports at the college level. Tiger Coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes and are gathering names and photos, but they’d like more. To be eligible for the Cat Walk of Fame, the former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute, played sports at the college level and graduated from college.
