BI needs fall ball players

 

Incoming eighth- through 12th-grade Bradwell Institute students who are interested in playing fall baseball should attend a team meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 14, at the school’s baseball field. Attendees will discuss the upcoming season and participate in a workout session. All games are Saturday double headers.

The Long County Recreation Department is taking applications for football and cheerleading for the 2010 season. Children ages 7-12 are eligible for football and children ages 5-12 are eligible for cheerleading. Registration forms are available at the LCRD office. Completed forms can be returned to the recreation department office or dropped off at the concession stand.

The last day to register is Aug. 14. A copy of the child’s birth certificate must be included with the registration form to verify age. The cost is $25 per participant. For players who will be at least 9 and no older than 10 by Sept. 1, there will be an evaluation at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at the recreation department. Any child who hasn’t registered by Aug. 14 will be allowed to register late but will be put on a waiting list until there is an opening. The fee to register late is $35.

 

Midway Middle School football camp

 

Midway Middle School will host summer football camp from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 2-6. Participants must have a current sports physical exam form. For more information, call 884-6677.
