A heat advisory for the week has been issued and to help residents stay safe, the City of Hinesville has partnered with Bethel AME Church (233 N. Gause Street) to provide a cooling station. The cooling station will be open from August 17-21 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. each day.

Hinesville Soccer Association fall registration

 

 

The Hinesville Soccer Association will have fall league registration from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at James Brown Park. The registration fee is $25 and that will be credited toward the dues for the season. Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate. For information, call 977-0072.

 

Junior Blue Tide Football Camp scheduled

 

The Junior Blue Tide Football Camp for children ages 8-13 will be July 12-14. Camp times are 8:30 a.m.-noon, and registration costs $25. Age exceptions may be made for younger campers with permission from head Coach Kyle Wilson. For more information, call Wilson at 424-8197

SGK Baller-size

 

 

SGK Baller-size workout sessions are every Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the YMCA and every Monday and Wednesday from noon-3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Christian Academy. Walker Middle School

Walker Wildcats baseball and softball camp for boys and girls ages 8-14 will be July 19-21. The $30 fee covers all three days and registration will take place on the first morning of camp. Camp runs from 9 a.m.-noon each day. Athletes will be instructed on fielding, hitting and pitching. Campers should bring their own bats and gloves if they have them. Proceeds benefit the WMS baseball and softball teams.

Cat Walk

Bradwell Institute is building a "Cat Walk of Fame" featuring former BI athletes who played sports at the college level. Tiger Coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes and are gathering names and photos, but they’d like more.

To be eligible for the Cat Walk of Fame, the former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute, played sports at the college level and graduated from college. To submit names or photos, e-mail them to jmiller@liberty.k12.ga.us, or mail them, along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope for return, to:

The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum to host Flying Fortress 5K Run

 

The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum will host its inaugural Flying Fortress 5K Run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, to benefit the restoration of the museum’s B-17 bomber. Registration is $25 but discounted fees are available to those who register in advance. The run is sponsored by Fleet Feet Sports in Savannah. Additional sponsors and donations are welcome. Bradwell Lady Tigers softball

 

The Bradwell Lady Tigers softball team will continue conditioning for girls in grades eight through 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Bradwell Field. Team tryouts are 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2. Girls must have a current sports physical to participate. St. James’ summer camp continues for children ages 5-13. Participants can register at any time in person or via e-mail at st_jamescenter@hotmail.com. Camp hours are from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, but will be closed on holidays. The fee is $50 per week.
