Hillery Park basketball

The Hillery Park basketball championship will be Saturday.  Team entries are due by 6 p.m. Thursday.  Age divisions are 12U, 14U, 17U and 18-and-older. The cost is $5 per player. To enter your team or get more information, call LCRD at 876-5359.

BI softball summer workouts

The Bradwell Institute softball team will have summer conditioning every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Lady Tigers’ softball field.
Participants must have current sports physicals to attend. Bring tennis shoes, a water bottle, two empty gallon-size milk/water jugs and a motivated attitude.

Derby Devils skate again

The Savannah Derby Devils will host their second home bout June 25 at the Savannah Civic Center against the Lowcountry High Rollers of Charleston and the Catawba Roller Girls of North Carolina in another doubleheader. At 5 p.m. the SDD’s Hostess City Hellions take on the Catawba Valley Roller Girls of Morganton, N.C., and friends. Guest skaters from the Blue Ridge Roller Girls of Asheville, N.C., and the Lowcountry High Rollers will round out their bench.
At 7 p.m., the SDD All-Stars battle the Tragic City Rollers of Birmingham, Ala. The TCR are 2-1 in 2011, while the hometown All-Stars are 1-2.
The evening includes two one-hour games, live music, kids’ activities, raffles, roller derby merchandise, giveaways and concessions. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
Single event tickets are $12 at the door or $10 when purchased in advance at the Civic Center box office or www.savannahcivic.com.
Military, students and seniors with ID receive a $2 discount at the door. Admission for children ages 3-12 is $2; ages 2 and younger are admitted for free. Surcharges may apply. Groups of 20 or more can receive a rate of $8 per ticket by calling 912-651-6557.

LCRD cheer camp

The Liberty County Recreation Department will conduct a cheer camp from 5:30-8 p.m. July 11-14 at Stafford Pavilion. The camp is open to children ages 7 and older, and the cost is $30 per camper. Registrations will be accepted from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays at the LCRD office. For more information, call 876-5359.

Summer Slam July 3

The annual Summer Slam event is scheduled for July 3 at Salter’s Field, and event director Ernie Walthour is accepting applications for food vendors and musicians/bands.
The gates will open at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. The daylong event will feature a music contest at 3 p.m., car and motorcycle show at 4 p.m. and live music at 5 p.m. Evening headliners include Dirty Dollars, Milkk Mann and Fame Entertainment’s Lil Bun. Cat Walk of Fame

Bradwell Institute is building a “Cat Walk of Fame” featuring former BI athletes who played sports at the college level. Tigers coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes and are gathering names and photos, but they’d like more.
To be eligible for the Cat Walk of Fame, former athletes must have graduated from Bradwell Institute, played sports at the college level and graduated from college.
